I’m excited to be able to announce that it’s finally here; the eagerly-awaited Mustang has landed in the UK! No more slightly suspect imports with the steering wheel on the wrong side; we’ve got a proper, right-hand drive version designed specifically for UK roads (it even comes with beefed up suspension to cope with our potholes and terrible tarmac!), complete with 2.3-litre four- cylinder EcoBoost or huge 5.0-litre V8 engine options!

Not since the days of Cosworth-badged Fords have we been able to walk into a main dealers in Great Britain and walk out with a powerful, practical, rear-wheel drive, performance car.

Because of that, people will naturally draw comparisons between the new S550 Mustang and the legendary Sierra Cosworth, but when you start to look closely you begin to realise that these two true Ford icons have much more in common than just being powerful rear- drive machines. And that’s what we look at with our cover feature this month, comparing all aspects of buying, owning, and tuning both of these Blue Oval heroes! Backing up the Mustang’s claim to throne is Steve Pound’s V8 monster. It may only be a few weeks old but it’s already boasting some trick upgrades and a healthy 456bhp, with more to come. Showing why the Sierra is still the daddy of all fast Fords is Robert Shaw’s RS500-inspired threedoor, complete with a massive spec and a whopping 515bhp! The arrival of the new Mustang to the UK can only be a good thing for Ford fans, and coupled with the imminent arrival – and global sales – of the Mk3 Focus RS it shows that Ford are serious about producing high performance models for the foreseeable future. And that means more fruity Fords for us to enjoy for years to come. Now really is a good time to be a Ford fan... Enjoy the mag!
