POWER
We all know if you’ve got more power you will have the potential to accelerate faster. But, what’s the best ways to spend your money when chasing bigger bhp figures?
Well first up, be it a turbocharged or naturally aspirated engine, you can’t go far wrong with a performance exhaust system and a decent air filter. Getting air in and out of engine is ultimately what makes the power, and the more efficiently an engine can do this, the more power it will produce. Don’t just go for a cat-back system either, as the biggest gains – on both turbocharged and naturally aspirated engines – tend to be found in the manifold or downpipe.
Next up, a remap of the stock ECU calibration is usually another sure-fire way to increase power output. While the results on turbocharged engines are generally greater, even on a N/A engine the differences are almost always worth it.
Beyond these basics, the limits are really only how much you can afford to spend, but how you’re your Ford accelerates is about much more than just power, as we’re about to see...
