We join the Dorset RSOC for their annual BBQ evening.

The Dorset RSOC may be a fairly small branch of the national RS Owners Club based on the south coast of England, but this group of die-hard Blue Oval fans are among the most proactive in all of the country. You’ll often find members representing the club at various shows up and down the country all summer long – they may not have the biggest stand, but they’ll be there, and given that the nearest shows for these guys and gals are always a good two-hour drive away, their dedication to the cause is first-class.

On top of that, this has to be one of the friendliest local groups going. We’ve bumped into them numerous times at various shows and events over the years, and they’re always smiling. No dramas, no politics, just good old-fashioned car people enjoying their Fords.

Maybe that’s why when the group hosts its annual BBQ evening at the Clay Pipe Inn just outside of Poole, it attracts members from the surrounding Hampshire & Berkshire, Bristol, and even Swindon RS clubs too!

We haven’t been to one of these infamous mid-season bashes for a good few years, so when Shaun Green and the club invited us along this year we jumped at the chance. Who wouldn’t want to spend a lovely warm summer’s evening munching on BBQ’d burgers and chatting all things fast Ford with a bunch of like-minded Blue Oval owners?

So, we jumped in the Fast Ford Focus RS (which had just had the ATB fitted, so the mix of twisty country lanes and a sunny summer evening was too much to resist) and headed down to the south coast to join the Dorset RSOC for what was a truly fantastic evening…
