CARBON SERIES GT
There’s no denying the hardcore credentials of the Ford GT – it’s not a pastiche of an iconic name, it’s a full-bore supercar. And now Ford have announced that they’re going to make it even angrier… the newfor-2019 Ford GT Carbon Series will be a track-based offering with a focus on weight saving. 18kg has been shaved away by the addition of a titanium exhaust system, titanium wheel nuts, a polycarbonate rear hatch, and an incredible set of carbon fibre wheels. Bare carbon is exposed at various points across the body to make a real statement about its forthright approach – but owners will still be able to commute in it if they’re so inclined, as the Carbon Series still has air-con and a decent stereo, although the cupholders have been deleted!
“This is an example of how we listen to our customers”, said Lance Mosley, marketing manager at Ford Performance. “While the Ford GT Competition model appeals to hardcore racing enthusiasts, we found more customers asking for more exposed carbon fibre with the air conditioning and radio still intact. So we developed the Carbon Series to satisfy that need, while providing a distinctive look.” Orders are now open to approved applicants.
