STAGE 2 PREPARATION

-

The car might be clean after all the extensive washing and de-contamination processes, but it’s not quite ready for HALO to be applied just yet. Likewise, if you’ve just had the new wrap applied, although the wrap my be nice and clean, the surface will still need to be prepared properly to receive the HALO coating. Matt backs the car into the System Clenz detailing bay, where the colourcorrected lighting allows him to thoroughly check for any flaws or defects that need addressing. In particular, he’s on the hunt for any water spots or missed bits of iron, fallout, tar, or contamination of any kind – if you apply HALO over the top you will simply seal these defects into the final finish, so it pays to be critical and extra vigilant at this stage…

START

1 Matt gives the car a thorough once over under the lights so he can spot any areas that might need any further attention. Any evidence of tar, fallout, or contamination of any kind will need removing with a suitable product (safe for use on vinyl wraps) before moving on to the next steps. 2 Any water marks that remain are quickly dealt with using W9 Water Spot Remover. Simply spray on to a new microfibre cloth and buff away the offending water marks to leave the surface perfectly clean.

FINISH

3 Once happy that there are no defects anywhere on the surface, the final step in preparing for HALO is to use a 30% dilution of Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) to remove any last remaining contaminants or fingerprints. Spray the solution onto a new microfibre cloth, and buff the surface clean. This process also ensures you get the best chemical bond between the wrap and the HALO coating.
