It may be one of the newest events on the calendar, but IOW Takeover has fast become one of the best-loved and most-talked-about Ford events of the year. What started out as a bunch of mates meeting up for a weekend get-together has rapidly grown into a fully-fledged, pukka Ford show.

The show itself offers a great way for the Ford community to get together and enjoy each others’ cars and company and in relaxed and chilled atmosphere. The venue – this year at its new home of IOW County Showground to hold the increased number of cars attending – provides a great backdrop for the array of Blue Ovals that make the annual pilgrimage to the Takeover, and with plenty of stuff going on throughout the weekend – from live music and fireworks displays on Saturday night, to exhaust rev

off competitions, trade stands, children’s entertainment and, of course, fantastic club displays – there’s plenty to keep you and the whole family busy all weekend.

And it’s the ‘family’ element of Takeover that perhaps makes it such a popular show, with most show-goers making a real weekend of it, many staying over on the island for the rest of the week too. With so many great attractions on offer, it’s hardly surprising that the whole island is taken over by Blue Oval followers for pretty much both weeks either side of the show itself, adding to the appeal of the event. It’s not just a car show, it’s a family holiday with an awesome Ford weekend built in.
