The trouble when you own any performance car is that you're always comparing it to others – especially Mustangs, as no two are the same. I’m not a big fan of gloss black plastic so after looking at GT101’s website and their vast array of goodies I opted for an RTR rear valance diffuser to be fitted. The parts are top notch, and Dave and the team done a great job of fitting it all. I must also mention that the GT101 reception area is the best one I’ve ever been in – three GTs sit in front of you, as well as a Nespresso machine and artwork celebrating the Blue Oval. Make a visit as the quality of their facilities are impressive, coffee is great too!

As with most car clubs there is a plethora of monthly meetings, and this means keeping on top of the detailing of the Mustang. One of life’s joys is putting the headphones on and spending a Sunday morning cleaning your pride and joy, but the trouble at the moment is I’m detailing it twice

a week. The neighbours think I’m a valeter rather than a photographer these days!

I arranged a meet at one of Kent’s top coffee houses, the Independent Pedaler in Bridge, just outside of Canterbury. The place is a stop off point for cyclists adorned in lycra, but on a misty Sunday morning it was full of V8’s from all generation of the ‘Stang’s 55-year history, fair to say that we all woke up the neighbourhood on arrival.

I wrapped up the month with a commission from the team at Fast Ford with a shoot at Bill Shepherd Mustangs, for the mighty Shelby Super Snake that appeared in the last issue. We thought it would make a nice comparison to photograph mine alongside to highlight the modifications on the Shelby. Interior wise, the SS is very similar to my GT, apart from the seats with the snake logo adorning the headrests. Exterior and in engine bay, though, it is a Frankenstein of a car! Fitted with a Whipple 3.2-litre supercharger, which pushes the car well over 800bhp.

Next month the car’s booked in at

Motorsport And Performance for a few more upgrades. It’s a bit of a trek up to Leeds from where I'm based in Kent, but after speaking to Ben when shooting his supercharged Mustang feature car from this issue (see page 10) at the recent Steeda driving day, he convinced me he and the team are making a lot of progress in modifying and mapping the Mustangs, so I'm interested to see what they can do for my GT. Plus, I’ve already got some Steeda goodies to improve the handling and vocal characteristics of the car. More details on those next month…
