We join the Tyne & Wear branch of the RSOC for a club meet.

Being part of an owner’s club or enthusiast group is great; it’s a fantastic way to really enjoy our passion for all things fast Ford with a bunch of like-minded mates. But, it is easy to fall in to the trap of repetition; repeating the same that went before just because that’s what you did last time. Yes, the old saying of ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’ does have some relevance, but likewise things can quickly turn stale and fizzle out unless you keep trying new ideas to keep things fresh.

That’s exactly what was happening with the Tyne and Wear branch of the RSOC recently. Towards the end of the 2017 show season the club decided it was time for a shake-up to bring back some of that sparkle and excitement, and to ensure the club’s future as a bright, well-attended, and engaging group. To make this happen, the club decided it was the perfect time to bring in some new blood and new ideas, so not long after joining the group, Ross Nicholson was soon elected as Club Secretary in January 2018, and it was his mission to jolt the club back to life.

With the help and input of many of the re-energised club members, the following show season was a resounding success with many trophies gathered, including the club winning ‘Stand of the Show’ at Knockhill – with the club Treasurer winning ‘Stand Out Car of the Show’ to boot.

The monthly meets were duly revamped, and a regular ‘Car of the Meet’ award was put in place. Throughout 2019 the club has visited all the major RSOC events and strived to welcome back old members while encouraging fresh faces to get involved too.

If this busy meet at a great venue packed with top notch cars is a typical example of their efforts, then you know exactly where you should be if you are based in the Tyne and Wear district! Get involved.
