CAR OF THE YEAR 2020 WINNER

Voting has closed, and we can now announce the winner of the Fast Ford Car of the Year 2020 award

-

Wow! That was a close one! After four weeks of intense voting, the Fast Ford Car of the Year 2020 competition has a winner. But before we tell you who has won the coveted accolade, we want to say a huge thank you to everyone that took the time to vote, and a massive congratulations to the owners of those cars that made it on to the short-list; 2020 has been a dodgy year for a number of reasons, but at least we can look back at say that we have been lucky enough to feature some truly fantastic Fords!

But of course, we asked you to vote for your favourite, and vote you did. This year has been the closest in recent memory; just 11 votes separated the top two cars once all the responses had been counted.

The winner of the Fast Ford Car of the Year 2020 is… Adam Bowler and his stunning Series One RS Turbo! Bought almost ten years ago as a car he could just use as he wished while another Series One was mid-restoration, the Escort ended up being stripped and then painstaking put back together over the next few years. Sticking with the old-school 1.6-litre CVH, Adam has managed to coax an incredible 268bhp and 252lb.ft from the engine, while the rest of the chassis and suspension has been tweaked with various performance upgrades from both the aftermarket and fellow fast Ford models to create something that’s as potent as it is stunning to look at. A worthy winner!

As we’ve mentioned, though, the competition was fierce this year, and in second place was Burger’s awesome Fiesta ST200. When Ford told him there weren’t any plans to build an RS version of the Fiesta, Burger set about creating his own. The result is a wide-arch, 400bhp riot of a hot hatch!

Rounding out the top three was another spectacular build in the shape of Hannah Ward’s Cossie-powered Focus track car. With a ferocious 580bhp YB sending all of its power through a full 4x4 system biting onto the tarmac, coupled to race-inspired suspension system, there’s not many things that come close to this bright pink Focus on a track day.

Once again, we’d like to say huge thanks to everyone who voted. And if you reckon you’ve got a feature-worthy Ford in the garage, get in touch; this time next year you too could be a Car of the Year winner…
