How long have you owned the car? “We’ve had it for three years now.”

What have you done to the car since owning it? “A few bits. It’s now on Bola B1 alloys, lowered on Eibachs, had the block mod done, is fitted with a sports cat and Milltek exhaust, it’s got a RamAir filter and Airtec Stage 3 intercooler, and is running Dreamscience’s 305bhp map.”

What do you use the car for?

“It gets used for everything. My wife uses it daily to go to work, it does the school run with the kids, we take it shopping, the lot. It gets driven every single day.”

What is the best thing about owning one? “Probably the noise – that’s what got my interest in the first place. But it’s a complete package; it’s like a modern-day equivalent to the RS Turbo, only it’s quicker and more reliable.”

What is the worst thing about owning one? “Probably the fuel economy – it ain’t the cheapest thing to run as a daily.”

If you didn’t own this, what other ST would you have?

“I honestly don’t know. I love the five-pot noise, but there’s not another ST model that really grabs my attention. I’ve also got a Mk2 Focus RS and a Saph Cossie, so the Mk2 ST completes the trio really nicely.”
