RESPECT OLD LADY
Juventus are shown a real lack of respect for dominating Serie A like they do. People say that there’s no competition in Serie A, but that’s wrong. Roma beating Barcelona justified my point: to do that, you need a fantastic team. With competition such as Roma, Inter and Napoli, Juventus’s title has come under threat, but they showed true Italian spirit and kept fighting. It’s time we appreciated Juve and the way they win the league time and again. Luke Mcclelland
TIME FOR THE NEW GUARD
The 2017-18 season showed that the old guard of British managers can’t cut it any more, and we need to promote the new breed of managers. Although Roy Hodgson has done a good job at Crystal Palace, Alan Pardew took West Brom down, Mark Hughes did a terrible job at Stoke and then barely rescued Southampton, David Moyes wasn’t the man for West Ham, and Sam Allardyce didn’t take Everton forward. With the constant success of Eddie Howe and West Brom’s form under Darren Moore, we need to foster a new generation. Sam Brooke, via email
LEAVE CIAO ALONE!
I’m loving the World Cup theme that FFT have introduced recently, though I was disappointed by the opinion of Ciao, who was described in FFT 287 as a ‘rubbish tricolour stick-figure mascot’. Italia 90 was my first trip to a World Cup to support Scotland. My favourite memento was a mini Ciao, which has hung on the rear view mirror of every car I’ve owned since then! Every time I see Ciao, I’m reminded of the most wonderful football experience I’ve ever had. Every football fan should attend a World Cup at least once in their life. Stuart Maclachlan, Edinburgh
AWAY-DAY TRAGEDY
After the awful accident that claimed the lives of many of Humboldt Broncos’ ice hockey team, I found myself thinking about the ‘Away Days’ article in FFT 268, travelling with non-league side Bromley on the bus to a match. Articles of that nature make you feel like you’re there, experiencing it. Having read it, even if we didn’t know the Humboldt Broncos, I felt enormous grief that they lost their lives travelling on a bus to play a game – just like every ice hockey team does over here in Canada, and every football team in England. It touched me deeply. Diana Dawson, Canada
