Keane left Old Trafford a month after verbally attacking seven of his United team- mates on the Red Devils’ in- house TV channel, MUTV. After a 4- 1 defeat at Middlesbrough, Keane – then injured – was scheduled to give his view in a piece entitled ‘ Roy Keane Plays the Pundit’.

The Irishman’s most stinging rebuke went to Rio Ferdinand: “Just because you are paid £ 120,000 a week and play well for 20 minutes against Spurs, you think you are a superstar.”

The interview was never aired, but it led to Keane’s departure weeks later.
