You departed Atletico after just one season – how did the move to Chelsea come about? You won the Premier League Golden Boot in 2000- 01 – were you at your peak then?

Chelsea were keen the year before but Leeds didn’t want to sell to a British club, so I moved abroad thinking I’d never go back to England. I went back with open arms! It was lucky that Chelsea still wanted me. They had signed Chris Sutton but he left after a year, so it all fell into place. Other teams were interested, but I just wanted to go to Chelsea.
