Last season was incredible. It was topped off by the greatest day of my life with the play- off final victory under Derek Adams. The big talking point among the fans is that we’re in League One! And we’ve got a new manager in Stephen Robinson, a new shirt supplier and a new shirt sponsor.

I’ve really missed the banter, the atmosphere, the pie, peas and gravy – the best in the world ( official).

Instead of going to the football last season I delivered food for a local charity, then did some work at a COVID testing centre. I won’t be happy unless we make a real go of it and attack the division. Our most underrated player is Cole Stockton [ below], who never stops running for the cause upfront.

Look out for Callum Jones, a highly rated 20- year- old midfielder who’s on loan from Hull.

The opposition player I secretly admire is Adebayo Akinfenwa. He looks like he’s spent more time in Greggs than Andy Ruiz Jr, but scores goals and seems a top lad. The pantomime villain will be any of our ex- players who score against us in a league game and make a big deal out of it... so not Kevin Ellison. The one change I’d make would

be letting mascot Christie the Cat cause carnage, like the old days. Evidently, there are rules against it!

Save the date for Sunderland at home, final day of the season. The Mazuma’s record attendance is 5,375 against Newcastle, so surely the Mackems will want to beat that. The ground I’m most looking forward to visiting is Portman Road. Last time we played Ipswich, we weren’t even a League team.

Other clubs’ fans don’t know that we’ve never been relegated, and we’ve also never lost at Wembley. Our key player will be captain Sam Lavelle [ above], who will hold the team together in times of adversity. The fans’ opinion of the gaffer is optimistic. The initial impressions are that he’s an intelligent guy – we look forward to getting to know him. We’ll finish mid- table.
