Last season was eventful. There were massive clubs to visit – topped by our trip to Spurs in the FA Cup – as well as two managers and some 25 signings.

The big talking point is whether we can retain the services of Cole ‘ the goal’ Stockton [ above]. This season will be different because we know what to expect after our first ever campaign at this level. I won’t be happy unless we break our attendance record at least a few more times this season.

Our most underrated player is Liam Gibson – the left- back consistently does a diligent job for the team.

Look out for Cameron Rooney, a player with a big future, even if he goes out on loan to get games first. The pantomime villain will be Ian Evatt at Bolton – an absolute gobs** te. I’m least looking forward to playing

Plymouth – no disrespect, but we’re now the league’s most northerly club and that will be a 660- mile round trip.

The opposition player I’d love here is

Accrington’s Sean Mcconville: a proper player, who gets you off your seat.

The active player I’d love to have back is forward Tom Barkhuizen, who was class for us a few years ago. He was released by Preston this summer.

Fans think our ground is improving all of the time, thanks to hard work behind the scenes.

The fans’ opinion of the gaffer is that he’s a football genius. Derek Adams [ below] saved us in his first season, got us promoted in his second and then came back to save us again. He is meticulous in his preparation, and he now knows how much we love him. The thing my club really gets right is keeping the family feel even as we move through the divisions and become ever more professional.

Fans think our owners are unsung heroes. Our board of directors are fans and have led the club through thick and thin. They should be lauded. The one change I’d make would be to make sure our season tickets are the cheapest in the Football League. Oh, wait a minute – we already have...

We’ll finish at least five places higher than all of the so- called pundits say. I’ll go for 14th.

FFT VERDICT

21ST

With a full house in many of their home games and a siege mentality cultivated by Adams, Morecambe will make a real fight of extending their League One adventure into a third season. In the end, they might lack the requisite quality – but it’ll be a wild ride either way.
