The big talking point is the arrival of Jack Ross [ above] as manager. I was never a fan of Tam Courts – his brand of football was eye- bleeding at times. This season will be different because we’re more established as a top- six club once again.

Our most underrated player is Scott Mcmann, our left- back. Given a run of games, he can get much better.

The opposition player who grinds my

gears is Liam Boyce of Hearts. Mainly as he keeps scoring goals against us!

The active player I’d love to have

back is Lawrence Shankland, who did brilliantly for us during our promotion season. Our style of play in his second campaign didn’t suit him, however. The thing my club really gets right is that we give youth a chance here. If you’re good enough, you’re old enough. I’m least looking forward to playing

Kilmarnock – they’ve always been our bogey team. We finally beat them last season, which was nice. Fans think our owner has put his money where his mouth is since taking over, in fairness. Look out for our young centre- half Ross Graham [ below], who broke into the team last season, has been a brick wall in our defence and will only get stronger. Tremendous player. The opposition player I’d love here is a goalkeeper, so perhaps Zander Clark who’s left St Johnstone.

The fans’ opinion of the gaffer is to be decided, but I’m happy enough with Ross. Hopefully he’ll have us playing exciting football – that’s what us Arabs want to see at Tannadice. The player I’d happily drive to

another club is Ilmari Niskanen. Gives 100 per cent but doesn’t do it for me. Yet to see him skin someone with skill.

The pantomime villain will be someone at Rangers, probably. They’re full of villains. The one change I’d make would be reducing ticket prices. They’re far too expensive for the product currently on offer here – £ 20 is more than enough for any game in Scotland.

We’ll finish top six. We managed 4th last term and got into Europe, which was a terrific achievement. We have to aim for the same or better.

FFT VERDICT

6TH

The Terrors appointed from within as academy coach Courts secured European football with a clutch of talented kids excelling. United’s mission is to go again under the experienced Ross, who succeeded Courts after his surprise move to Hungarian side Budapest Honved.
