I’m prone to anxiety spirals, and when that familiar crushing feeling starts to creep up on me, I know I need two things: more downtime, and wholesome distractions. Craft projects, house-cleaning and gardening seem to help thwart panicky thoughts, with the added bonus of getting my body moving – couch-potato brain is a real and not-so-great thing. Also, getting out of the house! A coffee with a pal, walk with the dog or drive out of town can do wonders to replenish the happy vibes.
