I’m prone to anx­i­ety spi­rals, and when that fa­mil­iar crush­ing feel­ing starts to creep up on me, I know I need two things: more down­time, and whole­some dis­trac­tions. Craft projects, house-clean­ing and gar­den­ing seem to help thwart pan­icky thoughts, with the added bonus of get­ting my body mov­ing – couch-potato brain is a real and not-so-great thing. Also, get­ting out of the house! A cof­fee with a pal, walk with the dog or drive out of town can do won­ders to re­plen­ish the happy vibes.
