A tiny his­tory les­son for you: in 1951, Amer­i­can crooner Bing Crosby was knocked back from a Cana­dian ho­tel for not look­ing sharp enough – he was dressed head to toe in denim. Though man­age­ment came to their senses and let the dreamy singer in, word trav­elled quickly, all the way to Levi Strauss and Co. An­gered at poor Bing’s plight, the de­sign­ers de­vel­oped a cus­tom denim tuxedo jacket to don next time he hit the town in a pair of old blues. And so, the term ‘Cana­dian tuxedo’ was born.
