a little chinwag with izzy de leon and libby scott from pink matter

-

How would you describe your music to your grandparents? Izzy De Leon: Soul that may or may not contain elements of jazz, funk, disco, synth-pop and hip-hop. Name a highlight from your time with Pink Matter so far. Libby Scott:

Supporting The Internet for their first Brisbane headline show. They’re consistently super-creative and really insane musicians. IDL: This is so corny, but for me, it’s the friendship we’ve formed while doing music together. Some of the best memories of the past few years have been with the girls in rehearsals, backstage at shows, or just hanging out on tour. How do you want your music to make people feel? IDL: I hope the songs are catchy and enjoyable, but I’d feel so accomplished if we inspired someone to take more risks with their songwriting, or to try new chords. Any secret talents? LS: I used to play violin and Izzy was pretty badass on the French horn. When was the last time you had stage fright? IDL: At one of our first gigs, we decided to cover Tame Impala’s “The Less I Know the Better”, and arranged it so I started the song alone, playing the riff. I was a lot less confident on bass then, and I remember practising it religiously every day leading up to the gig – even dreaming about it. When it came to playing it on stage, I think I almost peed myself. What a time. Tell us your favourite joke. IDL:

“So, are you the girlfriends of the band that’s playing next?”
