A bit of a chinwag with… hatchie

Tell us about your first job. It was flipping and serving burgers. The place happened to be situated on my university campus, so I had a lot of awkward run-ins with classmates. What’s your go-to karaoke song? I’m pretty anti-karaoke these days, partly because it ruins my voice. Boring, I know. The last one I can remember partaking in was a rendition of “Kids” by Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams, with my boyfriend. What are your long-running obsessions? I’ve loved vintage fashion since I was a teenager – I've spent an obscene amount of time scrolling through Etsy, ebay and Depop dreaming of all the insanely expensive clothes out there. My longest-running musical obsessions are probably Charli XCX and Caroline Polachek, formerly of Chairlift. Do you collect anything? Not actively, as I'm trying to buy less for the sake of the environment. My cupboard is overflowing with novelty mugs, though. I like getting them from different places I visit, but maybe I should move onto a lighter alternative for the sake of luggage fees. What’s it like having a global fanbase? Pretty surreal! It still blows my mind how many people listen to my music in Australia, let alone the rest of the world. I'm so grateful. Tell us about touring with Kylie Minogue. It was so cool! She’s lovely, bubbly and professional. All the shows I did with her actually got rained on pretty badly, but it didn't stop everyone from dancing and singing along. When are you happiest? When I’m at home or working on things I enjoy and achieving results. I feel miserable when I’m not making music I’m proud of. Working on a new song gives me an instant boost of energy and happiness that I can’t get anywhere else.
