DAISY JONES & THE SIX by Taylor Jenkins Reid This book is such a fun read, all about a fictional rock ‘n’ roll band in the ’70s. It’s a technicolour world of epic sounds and vivid characters. A great one for a holiday – I read it while in Byron Bay, which felt like the perfect backdrop! NO ONE IS TOO SMALL TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE by Greta Thunberg I don’t have words to express my admiration for the small but mighty Greta Thunberg. This similarly small but mighty book brings together many of her history-making speeches, and her clear-eyed determination blazes on every page – a defining book of 2019, I think. MINDFUL MONEY by Canna Campbell I love personal finance books, and this one, by the founder of Sugarmamma.tv and SASS Financial, is brilliant because it combines very practical advice with a holistic approach to your overall relationship with money. It’s really inspiring and one to come back to again and again. SMALL GARDEN DESIGN by Paul Bangay Paul Bangay is a national treasure, and his latest book is about how to make the most of the limited amount of outdoor space most of us have at home. As well as all the great tips inside, I love peeking into the elegant, cleverly designed spaces Paul has created for his lucky clients. FIXED IT by Jane Gilmore This is my current read: a thoroughly researched examination of the epidemic of gendered violence and the role of media reporting in promoting and reinforcing harmful perspectives on women. Journalist Jane Gilmore started ‘fixing’ misleading headlines and posting them online a few years ago – that was the origin of this thought-provoking book, which will hopefully spark positive change in the media and our society.
