Who do you turn to for life advice? When I’m heading into a panic attack before a festival, I’ll call my best girlfriends who not only talk me down and give me the confidence I need, but also make a game out of trying on every outfit. When I’m looking for big-picture band advice, I’m lucky to have found a friend and mentor in Trey Anastasio from Phish, whose words of wisdom have been a real North Star to me over the past year. What’s been your most rock ’n’ roll moment? Coming into the UK on the wrong visa and dragging three of my best friends to Paris for the day to have a drink at The Ritz, buy a Gucci turban and take too many selfies in as many fancy bathrooms as possible. Where do you go for a good time in Houston?

I mainly hunker down in the studio and grab Oaxacan food at Xochi. If I feel like dancing on a Thursday night, I’ll go see Beetle at The Continental Club – a very long-standing Beatles cover band that delivers a good time week after week. When did you realise music could be your full-time thing? When we got our first tour, opening for Father John Misty, I quit my job in the hopes that it would be forever, but it was a very fingers-crossed situation. It still blows my mind. Why did you choose to collaborate with Leon Bridges on your latest EP? Leon has a world-class, timeless voice. The second he said he was interested, we sent him a song to lay vocals on.
