getting to know liam halliwell from snowy band

How did the band come together? Thankfully very naturally, as I’d been putting off starting a band out of a paralysing fear of organising and telling people what to do. I’ve been playing with Emma Russack and Dylan Young for years and Nathalie Pavlovic is my partner. There’s nothing better than playing music with your close pals. How would you describe your music to your nan? It’s nice music this time! I’m finally playing the classical guitar I got in high school. What’s your secret song recipe? It’s like the best pizza: very simple with just a couple of ingredients. I’ve wasted far too long meticulously tweaking and obsessing over tiny details of supposedly grand arrangements. The lesson I learnt is don’t overcook, then enjoy with friends. When was the last time you had stage fright? I get stage fright every time I sing in front of an audience, but playing in a band with my close friends helps a lot. It’s worth remembering that if you get nervous about something, it’s because you actually care. A little stage fright is healthy. What makes you smile? I’m really into magic tricks at the moment – in real life, not on TV. Volunteering yourself to be fooled by friends or family is a really nice thing to do. What’s the ideal soundtrack for a walk around your city? The only way you can get away with not seeming too obnoxious is to play music that isn’t cool. In the past, I’ve stopped by Cash Converters and op shops and picked up the Friends soundtrack and The Matrix: Music from the Motion Picture.
