KÜHNE GERMAN MUSTARD

-

This Authentic German Mustard had me the moment I laid eyes on its novelty beer-stein jar. What better way to prove your roots than to package your spread in the national symbol for getting smashed? I didn’t have any beer to drink while doing this road test, nor did I have any bratwurst (I’m guessing vegetarian sausages were not what the creators had in mind), but that didn’t stop me from loving it. Flavour-wise, it’s not too strong – despite being chock-full of vinegar and spices, it doesn’t make your eyes water and nose run. The label says 'smooth and mild', and the label doesn’t lie. In fact, it’s very close to the easy eating of an American mustard, but with a tiny bit more kick and a thicker consistency. I didn’t expect this mustard to be my favourite of the lot, but it was, and the beer stein will live on long after I’ve greedily scraped the last remnants from its insides. Yes, it will make a very tidy vase. Cheers to that.
