What should we know about your music? My music is my story, but it isn’t just for me. I make music because I love it, but it’s a blessing for other people to hear and interpret it however they like. How do you find inspiration? I shut my eyes and recall all the things I’ve already achieved. I pray for God to guide and continue inspiring me through everything, from the people I’m surrounded by to my day-to-day environment. Inspiration is in all things – it’s up to us to open our eyes and see it. What did singing in church teach you? It taught me how to be humble and sing with purpose and meaning. It was a great foundation for my musicality and the connection between myself and other people. What’s the most underrated thing about your city? The youth of Adelaide hold so much power, but we can be overlooked. What influence does Kenya have on your music? It brings colour to the way I write. It’s not something that may translate to a listener’s ear, but in my heart, I know the influence that Kenya’s vibrancy has had on my songwriting. What would you say to young people facing racism? Stand up, stand firm and stand tall. Never lose the desire to want more. Remember who you are and never forget where you’ve come from. All that you require is within yourself – don't search any further. What are you working towards? Being the best me I can ever be.
