my favourite things with… pseudo mind hive

-

Favourite time of day to write music? Jake Bicchieri: Really early in the morning on the work commute. Favourite lazy-day meal? Christopher Hockey: A greasy breakfast, coffee and Panadol, followed by an icy can of Coke. When the clock strikes midday, it’s time for a hair of the dog. Or multiple hairs. JB: San Marzano tomatoes, fresh basil, fennel seeds, good quality pasta and salt. You cannot beat a good sugo, and you’ll look like an off-brand Anthony Bourdain while doing absolutely nothing. Favourite hairstyle? JB: Anything that grew out of David Bowie’s head is a winner. Favourite thing to do together when you’re not making music? CH: Having disproportionately passionate debates about other bands. There’s nothing like a conversation about whether the drum sound on an obscure Australian album from 1973 is better than the drum sound on another obscure album to clear a room. Favourite dad joke? John Zacharias: Two guys walk into a bar. The third one ducked. Favourite song to sing at karaoke? Samuel Drew-rumoro: “Gold” by Spandau Ballet if the place is heaving, or “Hello It’s Me” by Todd Rundgren if you want to bring the mood down. The all-time, though, is Glen Campbell’s “Rhinestone Cowboy”; once the collective feeling of embarrassment lulls, you’re on for a big ol’ party.
