first times, last times with… zoe catterall from the buoys

-

First time you played a gig? August 2016 with Ruby Fields (fka Stay at Home Mum). We decided last minute not to do the Jet “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” cover. Last time you forgot something important? I nearly bought tickets to a show a few weeks ago because I forgot I was playing as the support act. First time you realised you could do this as a career? About one month ago. I seem to be the only one shocked by the revelation; my family and friends said it was a long time coming. Last time you ate something extravagant? I eat oysters often. First time you got a bad haircut? In 1998 I was growing out a shaved head and had a bowl cut, but I loved it! It was the first of many weird haircuts. Bad is subjective in my case. Last time you bought something you couldn’t afford? Said oysters. First time you met one of your idols? I met some of the girls from Body Type after a gig. These women were my idols when The Buoys started out. They’re now good friends of mine. Last time you did something creative that wasn’t music? I’ve been writing a sort-of book lately. I say ‘sort of’ because I’m just writing a story and seeing where it goes for now. First time you wrote a song? The first full song I wrote was when I was 16. It was called “Isobella”. It took me two years to build up the courage to share it. It’s about the loss of innocence after my dad passed away from cancer. Last time you recommended a band to someone? The other day – I got a friend on to the UK band Shame. I’ve had their album Drunk Tank Pink on high rotation for yonks.
