Who's your dream dinner party guest? Lou Harbidge: PJ Harvey. She got me through first loves and heartbreaks. I heard that while recording Rid of Me she ate nothing but potatoes, so shed be easy to cook for. I'd cook potato three ways: jacket potato topped with creamy mash and crispy skins. What's one song you wish you'd written? Alex Neville: "Fade Into You by Many Star. I (not so) secretly love country music and would love to have served the world with such a melodic, heart-wrenching track. When did you realise you wanted to start a band together? Kristen Adams: When our band BOYSCLUB hung up its hat, Lou, Skar and I didn't know what the hell we were going to do next. Then, like a glorious golden goose, Alex fell out of the sky and into our Google drives. Where do you like to write music? LH: In the rehearsal studio. I love being in the room with the girls, with each of us throwing ideas around. When it all comes together, there's no feeling like it. Why the name DOWNGIRL? LH: We had a growing list of names to choose from. One of my favourites was She's All Brat, but for reasons I cannot comprehend, the girls weren't into it. The winning name was taken from Down Girl: The Logic of Misogyny by Kate Manne - a philosophical text which argues that misogyny should be seen at a societal level, not simply an individual one. Hum does your personality come across in your music? KA: We're all little gremlins at heart and you can hear that in our music. A lot of our lyrics are tongue-in-cheek, as well. You've gotta have a bit of comic relief through all the heavy emotion, ya know?
