MY FAVOURITE THINGS WITH… MONK SEALS

Favourite animal? Chay Kaa-luke: Cats, because they love to be left alone and I relate to that. Yannik Turner: White tigers, because they’re sexy and mysterious. Abel Carson: Seals seem so chill. They hang out together in the sun and swim – that’s the life for me. Jono Manning: Ravens, because they are wise, cunning and can mock human voices. Favourite holiday destination? CKL: New Plymouth, but I’d love to go overseas in the future. YT: Anatori. It’s just beautiful. AC: Nelson. I end up there every summer. JM: Tōtaranui. Its sense of beauty and tranquillity is unmatched. Favourite album? CKL: Evil Empire by Rage Against the Machine. The lyrics and basslines got me into music. YT: The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd, as generic as that is. There’s not one bad song and it’s so ahead of its time. AC: My Boy by Marlon Williams has been on repeat ever since its release. JM: At the moment, New York by Lou Reed. Favourite way to wind down? CKL: Playing an instrument that isn’t my main. I have a garage filled with drums, guitars and keyboards so it’s nice to chill and write. YT: Smoking weed, sex and a movie. AC: Doing anything that keeps me away from my normal routine and thoughts. JM: Screaming “YOU’RE NOT REAL” in the mirror and then screaming it backwards in Latin. Connect 4 is also adequate. Favourite piece of advice? CKL:
