THE Chronicle reached out to its readers and asked for support by donating items for emergency bags that will go to families escaping domestic violence. We also asked for small gifts for the children, who often arrive at safe houses with nothing.

When Hervey Bay resident Margaret Vickers read the article she delivered 10 handmade teddy bears to the

Chronicle office yesterday morning.

Mrs Vickers said she enjoyed knitting the teddy bears that she would normally donate to the hospital. “I love knitting teddies and they bring so much joy to people who don’t have anything, especially children,” Mrs Vickers said.

Donations can be dropped at the Fraser Coast
