An un­nec­es­sary com­ment

I WAS in­trigued to read the ar­ti­cle on page 5 of Thurs­day’s Chron­i­cle re­gard­ing the re­marks made in Queens­land Par­lia­ment by our lo­cal mem­ber Bruce Saun­ders.

Could it be con­strued that the mem­ber’s re­marks have tainted the is­sues with the Fraser Coast Re­gional Coun­cil? I note that the house deputy speaker Mark McAr­dle ad­mon­ished Mr Saun­ders for his re­marks and sub­ju­dice is­sues still to be tested in court.

A cheap shot Bruce made un­der Par­lia­men­tary priv­i­lege. I have worked with Mayor Ge­orge Sey­mour and re­gard him as a man of in­tegrity and hon­our and be­lieve that our lo­cal mem­ber’s re­marks should not be seen as a neg­a­tive re­flec­tion on our Mayor who I re­gard as be­yond re­proach.
