Bush­fire to blame for smoke haze over Bay

FIRE­FIGHT­ERS are still bat­tling a bush­fire west of Her­vey Bay, with smoke ex­pected to af­fect res­i­dents liv­ing in Childers, Her­vey Bay and Mary­bor­ough over the next few days.

Crews were called to a blaze near Kul­logum Rd and Golden Fleece Rd in Golden Fleece, west of Her­vey Bay near Childers, about 4.05pm on Sun­day. A spokes­woman from the Queensland Fire and Emer­gency Ser­vice said the fire is ex­pected to burn for sev­eral days. Res­i­dents in in the Fraser Coast may be af­fected by a smoke haze, and are ad­vised to keep win­dows and doors shut if suf­fer­ing from a res­pi­ra­tory con­di­tion.
