Students enjoy formal in style

THEY struck poses, danced, and celebrated.

Hervey Bay Special School graduates had their ultimate night-of-nights on Thursday – the much-anticipated formal.

It was everything they could have dreamed of.

Arriving in fancy rides to the Hervey Bay Boat Club with their loved ones by their sides, eight students from the graduating class stunned in their evening wear while walking down a red carpet.

Senior secondary teacher Roz Barker said there was plenty of hype in the lead-up to the formal, with the exact details of the event kept under wraps from students.

The graduates celebrated their achievements not just from this year but acknowledged just far how they had come during their schooling lives.

With one week of school left, Mrs Barker said the students were feeling bittersweet about the concept of starting a new phase in life but also leaving a familiar place.
