Pompeii’s Final Hours: New Evidence
This melodramatic documentary features some quite distressing scenes. It’s fascinating stuff, but also quite stomach-churning as one of the world’s most famous natural disasters is investigated. But there’s thankfully a bit of humour among the death and destruction. Premiering tonight, historian Bettany Hughes and archaeologist Raksha Dave explore what life was like in the final days of the doomed ancient Roman city of Pompeii. Political journalist John Sergeant joins the duo, calling himself the “novelty act”.
