Powerful challenge

Fremantle Gazette - - NEWS -

ALEX Prince has a lot of weight on his shoulders, literally, as he attempts a massive challenge for charity.

The Round 1 Fitness Cockburn Central coach and Piara Waters resident has set himself 123 days to lift one million kilograms at an average of 8100kg a day, all in the name of cancer research.

Mr Prince has just passed the halfway mark of his challenge and has already lifted more than 533,000kg during machine weight and free weight workouts.

He said he was aiming to raise $20,000 for Curtin University cancer researchers after seeing first-hand the effect the disease was having on loved ones.

“Both of my parents have got cancer and it just sucks to see the pain they’re in, the things the have to go through daily and just the struggle to get on with life as normal as possible,” he said.

“I’ve always wanted to do something to fundraise so I just did it.

“One million kilos is a lot of weight and it doesn’t matter how you try break it down, so picking a target that would get people’s attention as well as be achievable with hard work was something that made the million kilos the right amount.

“My body is sore but its worth the pain.”
