What tech are you taking out on the road with you for your audio-visual shows?

Martijn: “[ Laughs] By the time this interview runs we’ll have it figured out! The main feature of the show is, I guess, the fact that all three of us are actually going to be doing it, which is rare. It’s an audio-visual show so it’ll include a bunch of different elements that will make it more interesting to look at than a DJ show. We haven’t decided yet whether it’s going to be 100% Noisia music but that’s currently the intention.”

Thijs: “We’re trying to mess around with the ROLI Seaboard to see if that brings us something that we really need and want to have with us. We’re trying the modular to see if that is an added value or if it’s just bells and whistles. Basically, we’ll be taking at least two laptops – one for audio, one for visuals – and the rest is to be determined. There are going to be two people working with the audio and we want to have something to do onstage! We’ll be 100% Ableton. We’re working with a team of visual techs that are writing Max-for-Live patches that will connect our Ableton to Nik’s Resolume VJ software.”

Nik: “With the I Am Legion stuff I had to do a lot and I was really, really busy. I think we’re going to do a bit more synchronised stuff and pre-programmed layer arrangements but there will be lots of things for me to play around with. It’s going to range from being incredibly destructive to just mildly improvising. Search for Outer Edges on YouTube to get a first glance of what the new Noisia show will look like.”
