Fake Layering!

Layering on the OB-6? ‘But how,’ you say, ‘it’s monotimbral!'? Well, due to the versatility of the 2-pole state-variable filter you can achieve some very convincing layered-like sounds and it’s simple to do. For example, make a pad using the LPF, then turn the filter mode dial halfway between LPF and Notch to achieve a layered effect (it will sound like you’ve layered your low-filtered pad with sizzling strings). The power of this filter mode control shouldn’t be underestimated and as well as tweaking it manually, you can control it via aftertouch, X-Mod and the LFO too, giving you several ways to control your sound.
