Bristol Grime time city stalwart, Joker, steps up with what should be the first of many signature sample packs for the Kapsize label. Vol 1 sets his stall out early, and it groans under the bass-weight of the purple one’s mighty touch. As you’d hope, these bass loops crawl along lovely, as they trouble your speaker cones, hugging that bottom end of the spectrum. Registering above that are some inspired Synth-Funk stylings, reminiscent of his previous high-water mark releases, and some sharp vocals, designed to cut through his distinct brew sharply. Also featuring heavily are those trademark neck-snapping snares, booming kicks, inspired stabs, and woozy one-shot workouts.
