Get creative with Detroit Underground’s DU-SEQ sequencer
Detroit Underground are a record label with plenty of releases under their belt. Visit www.detund.com to check out their extensive catalogue and new modular ventures. They came into the world of Eurorack with their first module the DU-RDT. It’s a linear feedback shift register or LFSR that generates, manipulates and delays rhythms. They then brought the DU-KRPLS module to life (a collaboration with Meng Qi) which is a circuit bent waveguide module giving us Karplus-Strong synthesis and circuit bent sounds. Detroit Underground are injecting creative ideas and avoiding the more obvious paths of synthesis.
The DU-SEQ is an 8-step all-analogue step sequencer with CV and gate sequencing along with step repeats, variable slew per step, external gate, clock, direction, voltage addressed steps, reset and half-time control. It’s super playable and super fun. The CV sequencing is on sliders (we love sliders) and the step and gate control is on rotary switches, which feel satisfying to use. You can get creative and extend the 1-8 step functionality by choosing how many steps are active (any number from 1-8) and also choose between 1-8 repeats per step too. The gate sequencing can be on, off, repeating with the step repeats, held, or one of two external gate inputs you can use. Injecting random gates or external rhythms into these easily creates ratchets and bursts to mix in with the internal gates. Creating unique rhythms becomes easy.
We could talk all day about patch ideas with it but just take our word for it… it’s ace!
