DATA has never looked so good

The Mordax DATA is way more than an oscilloscope so let’s dig in!

-

Mordax launched with a storm of excitement with their module DATA and we think the hype was massively deserved. Watching wavetables move by, oscillators syncing, frequency modulation and all your slow complex random modulation is beautiful… But DATA is so much more. Here’s a quick run down: 1) comprehensive four-channel fully-featured oscilloscope 2) precise tuner 3) voltage monitor and source 4) dual waveform generator 5) dual clock source and clock divider/ multiplier 6) spectral analyzer (single-FFT) and 7) spectrograph (multi-FFT). You may think, “jack of all trades, master of none,” but we assure you it isn’t. Each one of those seven things is fully-featured, precise, and importantly fast and fun, and sweet Jesus does it look sexy!

Let’s focus on the things that make this more than an oscilloscope, which gives us the dual waveform generators and dual clock source. The waveform generator gives you control over frequency, phase, amplitude and offset with sine, triangle, square and saw waveforms. These can be anything from 4kHz down to 0.01Hz. You can also CV these with the Eurorack standard 1v/oct pitch tracking, so there’s two extra oscillators you didn’t have. The dual clock sources have various divisions and multiplications between x32 and /32 of the tempo. It will sync to external clocks at various PPQs and beats can be offset to create interesting rhythms beyond basics divisions. I need to calm down and breathe… I’m feeling hot and flustered and have never been as excited about DATA.
