Andras Joyful
Joyful is the ambitious and sensual debut album from Australian producer, Andras. The Melbourne-based artist, real name Andrew Wilson, explores a concoction of his formative influences as a teen in a kind of auditory love letter to his experiences of music over the years. The record is based on the producer’s interpretation of the relationship between early ’70s folk and ’90s dance music. The result is an album that feels nostalgic and sentimental, often laidback and tranquil, but also with an energy that translates to dancefloors with ease. Acid basslines merge with some truly addictive hooks, warm synths, glowing melodies, rolling beats and warm, fuzzy textures to create an inviting soundscape. There is a feeling of warmth and intimacy running throughout the entire album. A constantly evolving and diverse record, Joyful is the singular vision with an innate ability to bring wide-ranging influences together in a coherent and concise way. Full of colour, personality and confidence, this could be Wilson’s most accomplished and distinctive pieces of work so far.
