With its central dry/wet Mix knob, and a choice of four algorithms – Plate, Room, Hall, Lush Hall – Verberate Basic (VST/AU/AAX) is the simplest reverb in this round-up, clearly intending to push you up to Acon Digital’s other reverb offerings. The simplicity makes it a fair choice for whipping up a quick sense of space without putting the hurt on your CPU, but then again, so do the other ’verbs on these pages.

Verberate Basic has a sound that can’t be argued with, although it’d be nice to at least have a time or size control to get a little more customisation from it.
