Everything’s pretty simple when we first load Material Comp. It looks a lot like a regular modern compressor plugin, with the obligatory threshold, Ratio, attack and release controls, plus plenty more options (knee, range, SC Filter, M/S, Stereo Link, and more including a noise control). In the ‘special section’, Material Comp’s Punch, Groove and Imager controls add an extra layer of processing, which is independent from the compression. Punch adds attack, Groove gets things pumping, and Imager widens your signal’s stereo outlook.
