Señora Fósil

Lurid Music

- Tom Jones

The inaudible whispers, chopped-up FX and groundswell of bass and echo that opens Fósil sets the tone for this brilliantly disorientating and immersive album. Señora’s debut album on Lurid Music takes us on a cosmic journey to the outerconsciousness courtesy of experimental electronics and expansive productions. Spacey atmospheres, deep, flowing bass, undulating drums and stretched-out pads combine to create a vast and open soundscape. There are potent synths, manipulated field recordings, glowing melodies, distorted vocals and reverb all swirling around together in a rich and diverse tapestry of cosmic electronic music. The album feels introspective but also expansive, like assuming the perspective of a lone being, perched high above the universe in immaculate splendour. Fósil’s meandering journey passes through dark disco, retro synth, Detroit techno, electronica, experimentalism and European tech. A brilliant debut from one of electronic music’s up and coming artists.
