Cutting the wood

-

1

Right angles are going to be key to success for this build and will aid in rigidity, as well as aesthetics of the finished desk. Use a good quality carpenter’s square if you can but anything you know to be true will suffice.

2

If you have a guide or fence, check that it’s also set to perpendicular, so your cuts are perfect right angles. Also, ensure you set your fence not on the cut-line but offset to the width needed by your tool.

3

Straight cuts with little tear out will help the job look more pro. It’s easy to just plunge your saw into the material but lift the blade so it protrudes a fraction more than your wood to get a cleaner cut. Use a blade meant for the material too.
