Aya im hole
Hyperdub
The brilliantly subversive and experimental debut album from UK DJ and producer, Aya. Known for her futuristic club deconstructions under her LOFT pseudonym, Aya Sinclair pushes the boundaries of electronic music with her wonderfully distinctive debut. Taking on elements of UK garage, dub, grime, jungle, glitchy techno, computer music and mutant synth work, but then manipulating and cross-pollinating them into new and unexplored sounds, Aya creates an ever-shifting, always fascinating soundscape that veers off in unexpected directions. Unpredictable patterns are layered over glitchy beats, distorted walls of reverb, noise and drone and grumbling bass to create a sound palette that’s unfamiliar and engrossing. The album’s arrangement is unusual and it is that innovation that draws you in, begging to be flung into the direction that each propulsive track throws you. A magnificent debut that leaves you in no doubt of the experimental attitude of Aya, im hole could just be the beginning of a career that alters the possibilities for the future of electronic music.
