Ross From Friends Tread
Brainfeeder
Two years on from his acclaimed debut album, British lo-fi house producer, Ross From Friends returns with his charged, diverse follow-up album, Tread. Ross From Friends, the ever-evolving project from producer Felix Clary Weatherall continues to mature with each release and Tread is his most accomplished record to date. It moves through genres, styles, moods and tempos with ease and builds a complex soundscape that, despite all its diversity, feels well-rounded. Weatherall moves through melodic house, old school breaks, soul, 2-step, UK bass and beat construction without ever shifting the foundations that are central to the album. Those foundations are of emotion, intimacy and intricacy, conjured by warm, muted pads, melodic basslines, glowing synth-lines and stirring vocals. Testament to Weatherall’s craftmanship, it’s his ability to combine that emotion with a raw, club energy that makes Tread stand out. His innate understanding of rhythm and deft power of the low end has you dancing while losing yourself in sound.
