Roland – D-50 Dark patch collection Included with Roland Cloud

> Roland spread their energies quite fairly when resurrecting old synths. Given its relative lack of front panel controls, it was therefore a simple matter to make the D-50 available in both plugin and miniaturised hardware form. It’s also encouraging that new presets are being created and released via Roland Cloud. The latest is the Dark Patch Collection for the D-50. The 32 patches cover a lot of bases, from bells and guitars to more overtly synth-oriented sounds. The pads work best for me, and combined with a more sophisticated effects chain than the original’s, it fits in well in a modern setup. Bruce Aisher roland.com VERDICT 7.5
