Next Time Could Be Your Last Time

Forgiveness is the new collaborative project between Portico Quartet’s Jack Wyllie, DJ and multiinstrumentalist JQ and PVT and Deep Learning member, Richard Pike. Living up to their name, the collective’s debut album is a wonderfully emotive slice of endorphin-flushed tranquillity. Merging elements of jazz, ambient, fourth world, experimental, new age, electronica and eastern philosophies, Next
Time Could Be Your Last Time is a diverse, sensuous journey that wanders through complex and intricate musicality with the same ease that it slips into moments of transcendental meditation. Rich electronics meet with natural sounds and acoustic instruments as their synth-laden atmospheres blend seamlessly with the sounds of natural life in the vein of Japanese environmental music. There are warm melodies, beautiful strings, soft bass and gently fluttering flutes and sax drifting over subtle and inviting synths and stretched out pads to create an inviting soundscape. There is a laidback sense of playfulness on the record too, with each musicians’ joy penetrating through. Next Time Could Be Your Last Time is an almost utopia-like landscape where time and space is slowed down to allow connections, to each other, ourselves and the natural world around us, to become stronger and more resonant.
