Live 10 is a quality update to one of the best DAWs on the market. It’s not cheap, but the workflow improvements and new devices make it worth the outlay.

Tracktion Waveform 9 | $60 Confusingly numbered but impressively spec’d, this second generation version of Waveform (previously Traktion) is worth taking out for a test drive.

Steinberg Cubase Pro 9.5 | £480 Review: FM328 There are no radical changes in this update, but most of the new features are both well-implemented and worthwhile. Cubase remains an excellent and well-featured DAW.

PreSonus Studio One 3 Professional | £279 Review FM295 Studio One 3 is stable, capable of sating any music production need, and even does things that other DAWs can’t dream of.

Avid Pro Tools 12 | £550 Pro Tools has now caught up with other DAWs, bringing in a fast workflow to match its power. It still only runs AAX plugins, and there are alternative subscription payment models.
